Featured Picklers - Kathy McCausey and Val Thomopalos

Above: Kathy McCausey and Val Thomopalos, partners in PickleballFanatics.biz, plan to host a second Dink to Donate tournament.

The inaugural Dink to Donate tournament went over so well that a second annual event is set. The two-day series will take place May 10-11 at the Land O’Lakes Recreation Complex.

Hosted by PickleballFanatics.biz, the tourney will benefit the Pasco County Parks and Recreation’s mental health and human trafficking programs. The first one, played last June in Land O’Lakes, drew about 200 players and raised $3,500 for PCPR’s mental health and inclusion programming.

“It was such a success and brought such awareness that we need to have this as an annual event,” said Val Thomopalos, partners with Kathy McCausey at PickleballFanatics.biz.

Another inaugural tourney organized by that company is destined to become a second annual event as well. The Spinner Law Invitational, played last October in Land O’ Lakes, will be played again in the fall.

The Spinner Law Invitational included a kids division. That went over so well that Dink to Donate, which did not have a kids division, will have one the second time around.

“The youth part is taking off like crazy,” said Thomopalos, noting preregistration figures. “The kids are so excited.”

Thomopalos and McCausey expect a turnout of up to 230 players for the May tourney. That includes the kids division.
