Pickleball is thriving throughout the nation, state and Tampa Bay area. Closer to home are plenty of places to play in Pasco County.

Whether you’re seeking to play on the west side, in the east and even the central part of the county, there are public courts available. And that’s not even considering some of the 55-and-over communities for residents only.

Here is a brief rundown of pickleball courts in Pasco County.

In west Pasco, there are the Trinity Boulevard Pickleball Courts as well as outdoor courts at the New Port Richey Recreation Center. After the summer recreational program for youths concludes later this month, there also are clinics available at the New Port Richey facility. Tom Helfrich, who teaches from a wheelchair, offers lessons outdoors and has provided instructions indoors as well.

In Land O’Lakes, that recreation complex is home to Pickleball Fanatics, run by Kathy McCausey and Val Thomopalos. Those -known instructors, who have won numerous tournaments in and out of state, recently came back from Pittsburgh where they competed in the National Senior Games.

Open play six days per week is offered at the Sarah Vande Berg Center in Zephyrhills. At that facility, pickleball is just one of several racquet sports offered with eight dedicated courts. Tennis and padel are played there as well.

Additional pickleball play is offered at the East Pasco YMCA in Zephyrhills, in Dade City at the Armory and Price Park, and Wesley Chapel District Park as well as the nearby Wiregrass Ranch Sports Campus.

Just outside of Pasco County in Odessa there are courts at Keystone Park.
